I love Hallowe'en because it has been a family celebrated tradition since I was a baby. My Grandparents were magicians who were married in 1968 on Hallowe'en. Every year they had a massive Hallowe'en/Anniversary party in their stylish Victorian home in Honey Grove, TX.
My Grandparents are no longer with us, but I treasure the heirlooms I have inherited that represent their love of Hallowe'en and beautifully wicked artwork and collectibles.
I would be honored to welcome all of those wonderful bits of Hallowe'en art into my home. Thanks for the chance to win such fabulous art pieces.

Halloween has so many vivid memories. Dressing up in a homemade costume my mother made over layers of things to keep me warm. Just as it was almost unbearable and my cheeks flushed we would walk out into the brisk night. I was a giant pumpkin, a hillbilly with wired braids that bent upwards and had freckles painted on my face. I was clown, doll baby, or devil, it didn’t matter because the neighborhood was alive with disguises. Before the adventure of ringing doorbells and shadows of the night, my mother always took me to see the elder women who lived a good mile from the main road and away from any other house. Looking back, they may have been poor. House was very old and leaned, part of it a log cabin. There these sweet ladies would fuss over us and present us with a brown lunch bag with an apple and just baked cookies. Before we left a large tin record was played on a wind up Victrola.
The evening had just begun! I have memories of holding my big brother’s hand as we walked down the road. He wasn’t in costume and barely spoke a word out loud. I was quiet too, anticipating walking up dark driveways toward scary front doors, practicing in my head that important phrase..”trick or trick”. Hoping I get it right as I face adults with bowls of goodies. In the distance are faint sounds of giggles, dogs barking and sounds I can’t quite make out.
Orange and black, leaves swirling in the yards, stars glaring bright through leaf less trees and a chill slightly in the air. It’s Halloween!

I love halloween because it's a day to dress up, be silly, and eat chocolate! As a child we had a big trunk full of costumes, gypsies, hobo's, princesses, and even a lumberjack! Always fun to figure out what to be and mix and match, now I get to make costumes for my kids and enjoy the decorations, the crisp in the air, and did I mention already the chocolate!:) What a amazing chance to win some amazing Halloween art!! You all are the best

Halloween is like Christmas, only without the pressure of gifts. It allows us to be young, to dress up, and for one evening, live like a child!

Oooo, oooo, pick me, pick me!!! OMG! What a fantastic giveaway! Halloween has been my favorite holiday, just under X-mas! I love spooky and scary decorations. As a child I would set up a scare house in my garage and bring in poor unsuspecting friends and scare the bejesus out of 'em!
Good luck to everyone! 8^)

I love Halloween because I love getting dressed up in costume and having a grand time partying with others who enjoy doing the same. I love the decorations of the holiday and the movies and ghost stories. I'd love to include any one of these wonderful decorations into my Halloween decorating plans.

I love and have always loved Halloween for the simple fact that you get to be someone you are not just for that day. You can look different and act different and really put your hidden personality out there and just have fun. As a kid just not looking like me was the the most fun!

Halloween ! Ooooooooo! For 64 years, I have celebrated my birthday with Halloween parties. When I was a kid, mom made finger sandwiches, Kool-Aid and tons of candy and of course a birthday cake decorated with Halloween decorations. Every guest came in costume and the gifts were almost always candy in Halloween sacs. Whooosh. What a sugar rush. We played kid party games in the fashion of the 50's and 60's: pin the tail on the donkey, card games, Pokeno and bingo. Everyone got a prize. Everyone LOVED my birthday parties since they ushered in the REAL Halloween. A kind of "sneak peek" at the real deal. We had a small parade around the neighborhood. We hoped we could collect more treasures. Fun.

I love Halloween because autumn is a magical time of year. The days get shorter, the weather colder, the garden starts dying off, and the insects & frogs are still quite loud. I love the fall folliage, the changing leaves & beautiful colors. Halloween is the time year that my kids and I decorate & plan our costumes for the one night we can get free candy & run around like little kids. I have a lot of great childhood memories of Halloween & we continue to make new ones every year.

Halloween has always been my favorite holiday. As a child, it meant no school the next day...I went to Catholic schools and Nov. 1 was a holy day of obligation, so we could stay out late, well as late as my folks allowed, and trick or treat...back then, people stayed up later for the wee ones who came knocking at their doors.

When I became a mom, I loved dressing up my kiddos in home-made costumes of their choosing...gave them plenty of time to think of what they wanted, then I got to work on them. I'm happy to say, my daughter is now doing the same for my little grandies and they always look adorable in costumes, but then, they're adorable anyway!! LOL

Tomorrow, I'm taking out my Halloween tree (spray painted a small Christmas tree in black) and will decorate with my own ornies and others from wonderful artists that I admire...also, time to make my homemade painted cookies...can't wait!!

I was an army brat. We moved alot, sometimes we would only stay in a place for a few months or 6 months and sometimes even years. It was a tough life, always having to be the new kid on the block, getting teased and even beaten up by kids because I was new. It was a lonely life at times and when I did finally make friends it was time to move on. When I was young we were stationed in Belgium and lived in a large apt complex and when Halloween came around it was fantastic..It was my favorite time of year. I could dress up and be someone else for a night and the lonleyness I felt would be forgotten while I dressed up in my mothers shawl, necklaces, make up snd skirt..I was always a gypsy for Halloween..it fit me. I have never forgotten those times and Halloween has always held a very special place in my heart and always will.

Halloween is my fave! I love the colors, the imagery, the fantasy and fun of it all. I'm a collector of Halloween art and vintage Halloween. I adore the whimsy of the day. I love the season associated with it. The crisp sweatshirt weather, pumpkins, haybales.
I would be beyond thrilled to own any of these wonderful Halloween creations! And they'd have a good home....

Halloween for me is one of the best times of the year because for one night you get to set all your worries aside and be silly, scary, freaky, or just plain beautiful! It is really a magical time of year. We bake jack-o-lantern cookies and decorate them. We watch movies together after trick-or-treating and it is just that time of year that brings our family close together. I love this time of year!

Thank you so much for the chance to win such an amazing giveaway!

I can't think of a reason on why not to like Halloween. I love everything about the holiday. You get to pretend to be someone that you aren't. There are a ton of crafts to make for Halloween. I love being scared and getting to scare others. Horror movies are some of my favorites and they always come on around Halloween. It's all just so fantastic.

I've always been attracted to "the dark side". I grew up loving Saturday afternoon Creature-Features, and Ray Bradbury's creepy short stories (The Jar, The Skeleton) were my favorites. How could Halloween not be my favorite holiday? It always brings a smile to my face to see the orange and black decorations popping up in my neighborhood, even if it's nothing more than simple pumpkin or ghost shapes cut out by school kids.

What makes Halloween special for me is being able to bring out all of my Halloween treasures and decorate for family and friends. Each piece has its own story and memories and makes me smile every time I see it. Each year I also pass along a some of my Halloween goodies to add to my friends' collections, or do a little silent auction fundraiser for charity at my work. I have the joy of owning some wonderful characters, as well as the joy of bringing a smile to someone else's face when I find them a new home. Thanks so much for asking :)

Halloween is my favorite Holiday and October is my favorite month. I love the change of seasons, the turning of leaves and Pumpkins. I could stand at a bin of pumpkins for hours and try to find the perfect one for my jack-o-lantern. I feel excitement when stores start getting Halloween merchandise and marvel at the plastic skeletons that i will buy to paint black and coat with glitter. Our little elementary school puts on a Halloween celebration every year with games, treats and prizes. You will find me there every year, this year my Grandson is in kindergarten so he will go as a student instead of a visitor. I can't wait to see his costume :) My business is creating spooky miniatures so this is my busy time, it is great to share the Halloween spirit with others.

Hugs,
Victoria

I grew up in England and we didn't celebrate Halloween then. I have only experienced it here in America. I love the excitement that is in the air and how much the kids look forward to it. I love the colours that surround us all. I have a hard time getting out of the Halloween mood and switching to Christmas (which I love also) so I make Halloween crafts all year. The scene in To Kill A Mockingbird as the kids go trick or treating is one of my favorite. It sums up the creepy feel of Halloween to me.

Hands down, Halloween has always been my favorite holiday. I look forward to it all year long. Once the days begin to get shorter and the temperatures begin to drop, the creativity and anticipation leading up to October 31st amp up. For me, it has always been a magical night full of frolic and fun, where it seems anything is possible. :)

If I close my eyes right now I can smell the burning leaves of the neighbor down the street. I can see the glowing faces of the pumpkins sitting on each porch. I can hear my sisters and I singing the song of trick or treat before knocking on each neighbors door for the wonderful loads of candy we would haul home and eat. Oh I love this holiday, it makes the old feel young again and the young get to create memories for the future. This is why this magical day is my favorite. Happy Halloween everyone. Paulette

I have so many wonderful memories of Halloween. My favorite was getting dressed up and going all over town get bags of candy with my cousins. We would trick or treat for hours and as I got older, I just loved going to all of the haunted trails and helping give out candy to all of the children at my mother's house. Now I get to enjoy the thrill of trick or treating with my own children and it is so fun to see the excitement on there little faces and make new memories with them. I would love a chance to win the awesome ornaments.

I'll always love Halloween because of my childhood memories, it was so much fun to make up costumes & be able to pretend to be a gypsy, witch or monster & run around in the night. The free candy wasn't so bad either! I had a great time sharing that with my kids & now my grandkids. I just wish it would last longer!

I love Halloween because it is the one holiday where you can just have FUN! No worrying about cards, gifts, what to cook.. etc. Unless, of course, you want to have a party.
I love making decorations for my yard and my home. You can dress up however you like, and it is fine! I love the decorations, costumes.. well, all of it! I am so coveting the prizes here... you just have no idea!

What a fabulous give away! I love Halloween because we get to face and conquer the things that firghten us at other times of the year such as bugs and spiders, mice and ghosts. I love decorating our house and enjoy the children in their costumes. I make golf ball size play dough in different colors and put several balls in a labeled plastic bag for the children, along with pencils and other non-edible goodies and toys. There is a feeling of magic in the air and anything is possible!

Martha said...

I love Halloween because everyone young and old enjoys the tricks and the treats. There's excitement in the air, the season is changing and pumpkins light the night. Then at dusk, you start to hear children rustling through the leaves coming toward your front door - "Trick or Treat!!" - it's so much fun seeing their costumes and sharing in the magic of the night.

I love Halloween because
It fills me with nostalgia
and always brings back great childhood memories ...except for one.
I remember being in 3rd grade, at a Catholic school, and Sister Mary Vitale, announced to the class, that instead of wearing "silly costumes" for our class Halloween party, we were to dress up as "Patron Saints"......HUH???.. what the heck is that? and WHYYY?.. Talk about sucking the fun out of a child's favorite holiday!...So there we were, a room full of "nun-looking" little girls and "Saint Francis-looking" little boys....yippee. Needless to say, I did NOT wear my "Patron Saint" costume trick-or-treating that night!.
So, besides this one little real life Halloween horror, Halloween still remains my favorite holiday!

I love Halloween because of the memories I have with our daughters. Starting when our Tracy was ten years old, we threw the biggest Halloween sleepover party for her and her friends every year. My husband took them all to the local (and awesome) fire department haunted house, where they got scared half to death. Too scary for me! I stayed home with our youngest daughter and one of her friends for some games and stories. When the big kids got home, we turned down the lights and did pass arounds in the dark. Stuff like peeled grape eyeballs and spaghetti veins. The girls played the board game Nightmare (awesome!) and watched scary movies until it was way too late. I always made a graveyard cake, decorated sugar cookies, creepy finger food and a green punch with floating hands made of ice. The girls looked forward to this every year. Maybe my husband and I should hold our own Halloween party this year!

Halloween is the greatest day/ night of the year, because you can be anything or anyone you want. You don't have to worry about being ridiculed or judged for letting your imagination go WILD, or for being different or unusual. For one night of the year, you can break loose. It's fun, magical, and liberating. Anything can happen!
